Detail
Auxin is essential for many aspects of plant growth and development.  In plants, the rate-limiting step for auxin biosynthesis is catalyzed by the YUCCA (YUC) family of flavin monooxygenases.  We have been investigating how auxin biosynthesis is spatially and temporally regulated and what the
consequences are when localized auxin biosynthesis is disrupted.  We use genomics and proteomics approaches to identify transcription factors that regulate the expression of YUC genes in Arabidopsis.  We also developed genetic and genomic tools that enable us to temporally and spatially control auxin biosynthesis.  Our understanding of auxin biosynthesis opens a unique angle for investigating the molecular mechanisms of auxin action in various developmental processes.
