Comment
It is my great honor to receive the Award for Excellence at the 24th Japanese Society for Xenotransplantation Research. I'd like to appreciate into the organizer of the research meeting for giving me to present our research. In accepting this award, I would like to especially thank Yuki Murase, who graduated last year as a master course student, for his contribution to this research.
Award subject
"Generation of rat pluripotent stem cell derived lung in mouse by blastocyst complementation method"
In this research, we focused on the "blastocyst complementation method," which inject wild-type pluripotent stem cells into early embryos of organ-deficient animal models to generate organs derived from pluripotent stem cells, as a method to solve the shortage of donor organs for lung transplantation. We generated lung-deficient mouse models and investigated the conditions necessary to generate pluripotent stem cell-derived lungs through allogeneic analysis, and finally succeeded in generating lungs derived from xenogeneic rat embryonic stem cells (ES cells) in the mouse body. In the future, we expect to develop our research into the generation of human pluripotent stem cell-derived lungs using early embryos from different species of large animals.
