Mr. Seiya Shino from the Applied Stress Microbiology Lab received the Excellent Presentation Award at the 67th annual meeting of Kinki Branch, the Japanese Biochemical Society.

 At the 67th annual meeting of Kinki Branch, the Japanese Biochemical Society, Mr. Seiya Shino from the Takagi Lab received the Excellent Presentation Award for his research on the metabolic regulation mechanism by nitric oxide-mediated protein post-translational modification in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. He found that some glycolytic enzyme was post-translationally modified (S-glutathionylation) by nitric oxide and this S-glutathionylation inhibited the enzyme activity and promotes the pentose phosphate pathway. These results suggested the existence of a novel metabolic regulation mechanism by post-translational modification of proteins. (May 29th, 2021)
