Assistant professor, Manami Toriyama, was selected as Young Scientist Award Winner for The 72nd Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Cell Biology.
Assistant Professor, Manami Toriyama (Laboratory of Molecular Signal transduction), received “Young Scientist award for excellent presentation” from the Japan Society for Cell Biology. She presented her research titled “Immunological role of primary cilia of dendritic cells in human atopic dermatitis” in The 72nd Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Cell Biology. “Young Scientist award” is aim to develop cell biologist and support their independence, and given out at to 10 excellent presenters among those who meet the qualifications: first authors of poster presentation or symposia, and age of 38 or younger. In her research, she and colleagues found that primary cilia, unique organelle in a cell, promoted skin immune cell proliferation, and was over-formed in human atopic epidermis. Her research suggests that primary cilia regulation could have a therapeutic potential to treat atopic dermatitis.
