DNA damage responses in plants
Plant Growth Regulation ・ Assistant Professor ・ Naoki Takahashi
Plants, unlike animals, cannot move freely to avoid unfavorable growth conditions. Therefore, plants have to adjust their growth in response to surrounding environmental conditions. DNA damage occurs during chromosomal replication but also originates from endogenous and exogenous factors (e.g. ROS, UV and ionizing radiation). Recent studies have shown that plants have unique regulatory mechanisms that act in DNA damage response.
